A Banked Turn

Cycle path makes as steep decent off a bridge straight round a tight bend

The designers of this cycle bridge in Minsk, Belarus spent several months trying to devise a safe means to take cyclists coming downhill at speed from the top of the arch round the tight bend at the bottom. Then a flash of inspiration came one evening, while watching the bobsleigh final at the winter olympics.

The only problem remaining was how to ensure the safety of pedestrians faced with cyclists coming round the banking at 50km/h.
Simple: Build a separate flat bridge.
