Contrasting Surface Treatment

Shared use pavements can often cause confusion, with pedestrians and cyclists unsure of which side they should use. Contrasting surfaces can be used to make this clearer. In this case, Durham Council have turfed the cycle side of the pavement to emphasise cycling as a green mode of transport.
