When Southampton City Council surveyed people's attitudes towards using public transport they discovered that boredom was a major deterrent to the uptake of bus use. In order to provide bus passengers with a more exciting experience they have diverted this cycle lane so that passengers now step off the bus across the path of cycle traffic.
