This new concept in efficient use of road space is being pioneered by City Liverpool City Council. Early evaluation of the effectiveness of this intervention on Breck Road found an unexpected weekly pattern. While it works extremely well first thing on a Sunday morning, cyclists reported difficulty using it during shopping hours. The council is now carrying out an intensive programme of research to discover the reasons behind this.
