Preventing Head-on Collisions

Power distribution pole in the middle of a cycle path

Head-on collisions can be a serious problem where narrow shared-use paths go round blind bends, especially when cyclists from both directions are restricted to the same side of the path. Telford & Wrekin Council's solution to this problem is to obstruct the route with a large wooden post, thus ensuring that anyone riding on the correct side of the path is protected from the possibility of encountering oncoming traffic.
