Letter thanking the council for the town centre cycle route

RE: RECENT WORKS IN THE TOWN CENTRE Dear Cllr Dirir, I am writing to thank the council on behalf of the Warrington Cycle Campaign for the works recently undertaken by the council on the roads in the Warrington town centre. The widening of the bus lanes from Academy Way to Goldborne Street and the improved road layouts on the other side of the road have created a new cycle route through the town centre that enables cyclists to avoid the busy main roads. The simplified junction between Academy Way and Academy Street is particularly helpful for southbound cyclists. The town centre used to be an extremely cycle-hostile environment. With cyclists prohibited from riding in the bus lanes or the pedestrianised area, the only available legal routes through the area were the busy main roads characterised by dual carriageways and large roundabouts. So the new route is particularly welcome. We have also been impressed by the quality of the cycle parking outside the library, which shows how a single car parking space can be reallocated to make room for a number of cycle stands. Yours sincerely Pete Owens - For the Warrington Cycle Campaign
